CHIPPA - The term "Chhipa" is derived from the Hindi word "Chhapa," meaning block or the tool used for block printing. The Chhipa community, regarded as the pioneers of this art, introduced the craft of hand block printing to the Jaipur region of Rajasthan, where it has flourished for around 500 years. Originally based in Bagru Village, now renowned for its vegetable dye and mud resist (dabu) block prints, the Chhipas have preserved and passed down this rich tradition through generations. Their products, featuring traditional Jaipuri designs, are created on natural fabrics like cotton, silk, jute, linen, and chanderi, using vibrant vegetable and organic dyes.
